Dear Diary……. there has been so much going on I can’t keep my head straight, but that’s okay because I thrive on chaos. In a nutshell, it started last Friday evening, we celebrated my moms 70th at Lake Mansion. What a great venue to have a party, catered by her favorite bahbecue, Carolina’s Kitchen & Barbecue …serving favorite wines Acacia Chardonnay and Da Vinci Chianti and a beautiful XLL cake. My dad did well!
The evening was beautiful, columnist Karl Breckenridge, shared the history of Lake Mansion and my father talked a bit about Historic Preservation in the REno area. I could have listened to them both all night long but there were speeches to be told and songs to be heard. K2 sang a song about his mother being a stripper. She was never a stripper, but we still have a good time telling people she is. (She’s great at stripping furniture) My nephew and niece hammed it up with flying monkees, dancing and later overheard……….how many cokes did he drink? That explains the flying monkees!!!
Shakey Jake, continued tradition of knocking a glass of wine from someones hand. Just like old times when growing up. Shakey Jake use to spill his glass of milk just about every meal growing up. Once when we were having dinner at a friends house, the hostess walked over and said, “Let me just get this out of your system now and do it for you.” She knocked his glass over. He looked at her like, “Whhhaaaaa?” and we laughed. Turns out Shakey Jake continued on his path and is one of the best I’ve seen at Live Improv. Live improv is difficult so I’m a bit envious of his talent. I too have talents but plugging toilets is NOT a laughing matter.
That evening we wound down sitting around the kitchen counter with overnight guests. We enjoyed the evening very much finally passing out from exhaustion.
Without going into detail the weekend went full steam ahead winding down on a walk with my daughter-in-law and son. Her due date was May 2. We’re going to be grandparents between now and Friday for sure. YEEEEEEEEHAWWWWW!!!!!
Last night, a friend and I attended the University of Nevada, Reno Engineering Spring Celebration held at the Circus Circus. I didn’t realize there were so many Engineering Departments and it really was exciting to see many young adults going into the field enthusiastically. The Dean, Dr. Batchman shared a little bit about the Mistress of Ceremonies Julie Ardito. I sat there seeing the same look on others as I had…..she has accomplished so much…..and she looks so young. She is proof of true talent that comes from the University of Nevada, Reno. I’m not doing another plug, I’m just proud of our school.
Well, I could go on, but I didn’t want to do the old….sorry I havn’t blogged….okay SORRY I HAVN’T BLOGGED, it was on the backburner. Funny, sometimes it’s like a job, like guilt for calling in sick but it’s guilt for not writing often. Now that I’m writing about guilt, I’m guilty of writing of what I wrote tonight just to write something for not writing anything. SHUT UP and go to bed!!! Goodnight
